District Saves Over $3,000,000 PDF Print E-mail

Since 2002, the Dearborn Public Schools have realized over $3,000,000 in savings due to upgrades in utility systems and other energy saving projects. Annually, Johnson Controls provides the district with an audit and report on the status and savings realized as a result of their work with the district on three separate energy conservation projects. The in-depth report contains information and data covering the period from January 1, 2002 through April 30, 2008. The report indicates that the district's involvement in these projects have saved literally millions of dollars and substantially lessened the adverse impact on the environment.

MaryBeth Jarosz Named School Nurse Of The Year PDF Print E-mail
Marybeth Jarosz, Dearborn Public School Nurse, was named the Michigan School Nurse of the Year by the Michigan Association of School Nurses (MASN). Marybeth officially received the honor at the MASN annual conference earlier this month. Marybeth began her career in nursing after receiving her associate degree through Henry Ford Community College and later attained her bachelor of science in nursing from Madonna University. She has worked in the district since 1994 and six years ago added a master of arts in early childhood education to her list of accomplishments.

"Marybeth is empathic, compassionate, and passionate as she brings her caring down-to-earth attitude to students and staff while leaving part of her with all whom she serves," commented Ron Gutkowski, Assistant Superintendent.
